Everyday Normal Guy

Again with the video. What the fuck? If I had something to say, I’d say it. I guess I’m just an Everyday Normal Guy.

NoMeansNo

I know it’s monumentally lazy to stroll back here every few weeks to post a video, but…well, I guess that’s all I have room for. Hell, it’s not like anyone reads this fucking blog anyway.

I found this video on YouTube of NoMeansNo back before they had a guitar player. I think I saw them at the Vatican in Eugene as a duo, but can’t remember those days all that clearly. This probably would have been from the mid-’80s sometime. I played with them a couple of times around 88 or 89, but they had grey hair by then.

Share iTunes Now!

I’ve recently started using Simplify Media to share my home iTunes library so I can listen to it at work. It’s working great so far and I’m now letting all my friends know that they should install it and share with me. The application installs an IM-like client in your system tray where you add up to 30 friends. Then, in iTunes, you see all of your new friend’s libraries for you to play to your hearts content. Install it and let me know.

Supreme Fucking Court

Yesterday, the Supreme Court upheld the federal ban of late-term abortions. While it concerns a very uncommon procedure, the ban is particularly frightening in that it does not provide any sort of provision for situations where the mother’s life may be at risk. This sets precedent whereby future cases could be decided using the lack of that provision in the existing ban as a footstool to introduce further restrictions. Now is the time to start making yourself heard! Even if Roe is never overturned, this Court could make it so hard for women to get abortions that it would be effectively the same thing.

Listening Party

Diane reminded me that there are probably people out there vitally interested in what is surging through our headphones feeding voices from another world directly into our brains. So here’s another installment of Listening Party:

Call Me Stupid

There was a man who called himself Stupid. I saw him every time I went to the 5th Street Public Market when I was a kid growing up in Eugene, Oregon. He always sat at the (mostly) same table, drinking coffee, and working on his books – collections of wisdom. I’ve often wished I still had one of his books. Stupid would have hated what became of the market.

My friend Chris was once at the market with his friend and child. The kid asked him why his name was Stupid. His reply was “I used to know a big fat guy and everyone called him Tiny.”
